Two Tech Innovations

Today, I came across Two Innovations which can influence the Technology of Future. This honour should go to both the sides of a coin, i.e Google and Microsoft.

Google StreetView: Google today has announced the a Great addon to their existing Google Maps Interface. Using StreetView one can walk along the Roads on the existing Maps. Currently only few Streets in US have this feature, but definetely will be extended everywhere.

Microsoft Surface: Microsoft has announced the New Surface Gadget, which is nothing but a Touch Screen Table and allows people to touch and move objects on screen for everything from digital finger painting and jigsaw puzzles to ordering off a virtual menu in a restaurant.
It also recognizes and interacts with devices placed on its surface, so cell phone users can easily buy ringtones or change payment plans by placing their handsets on in-store displays, or a group of people gathered round the table can check out the photos on a digital camera placed on top. I think its sort of similar iPhone but with more capabilities...

Pipes - RSS Remixers

I had blogged earlier regarding the usage of RSS feeds. RSS feeds are making a big impact in the current Web industry. Till now we had numerous readers which could support various Feed formats and give variety of features. For example: Google Reader.
I was facing one problem though in my whole RSS Reader setup and that is concerned with Duplicate Feeds. My Reader used to be populated with the multiple links referring to the same page by different subscriptions. For Example: I had subscribed for two Oracle related feeds OraBlogs and OraNA(News Aggregator) . These feeds used collect the Links from various Oracle related blogs and sites and give it to me as a feed. Some of the Sites were common in both the feeds, hence resulting in duplicate links.
I was looking out for a solution for this, and the Web has provided it to me Yahoo! Pipes. termed as a RSS remixer, Yahoo pipes was released last week. Using this tool you can gather feeds from various sites, do something with them and get a desired output. The concept here is pretty much similar to the Pipe command in Unix. The main highlight of Yahoo Pipes is the amazing interface, with cool drag'n drop features and a Debug window which will allow you to create pipes. I have created couple of pipes also My Bookmarks and OracleBlogs . Check them out and Have Fun :-)
